Designing and Developing a system with the purpose of having many applications
-
Analysis of similar systems to develop my iteration
-
Rapid prototyping and development for quick testing
-
Greyboxing and Environmental planning
-
Developing a simple narrative to create player purpose
This is a video of my 'Fixed Camera Angle' 3rd Year Research Project. It was a solo dev project and my first time using Unreal Engine and was a great way to learn and explore creating environments and the blueprint system. This project was created within 6 weeks and was a way for me to build a passion project.
These are some more photos of the development of my level from sketch to an in-engine level. This project was heavily inspired by some of my favourite game franchises, Resident Evil and Silent Hill. I tried to capture that style and feeling through the level and the camera angles and shots
I did a lot of reworking both the level design and the camera placement to get the best possible atmosphere. I've always had a soft spot for horror games, especially the classics, so I took this opportunity to practice developing something that I want to create in the future.
I used models from Quixel to create a unique and interesting atmosphere that tells a small story. The Diner is the central area with a Restroom, Kitchen and Basement that are all a part of the simple note-told story.
